The Bachelor of Medical Science (BMS) is a Post-Baccalaureate Medical Studies Program degree, which means that to be eligible, a student must first hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university. The BMS degree is considered a 2nd bachelor's degree and all courses are undergraduate.

The degree includes 124 credit hours. 90 hours are block-transferred from the student's first bachelor's degree. The remaining credit hours are to be completed in the Post-Baccalaureate Medical Studies Program at Dominican University. Courses from outside universities are not transferable toward the BMS degree. Each student's curriculum has flexibility so that it may be perfectly tailored with their advisor to best fit their needs.

Whether a student has already taken every necessary prerequisite and is looking to demonstrate better mastery of the material or if they have never taken a science course, we can set up an individualized path of coursework and experiences.

All students are required to take the following courses:

Credits
Medical Professionalism and Leadership 3
Preparing for Professional School and Beyond 2
Clinical Preceptorship 2
Medical Ethics 3

Visit the University Bulletin for course descriptions. The remainder of the coursework is agreed upon by the student and the advisor. Visit the link below for a full listing of courses offered and to see how we document the BMS Plan of Study.
