The music minor at Dominican requires an emphasis on performance, music theory or composition. Students may be asked to audition for admission to the program. Their first semester of applied study is considered a probationary period for students, pending their professors’ approval for acceptance into the music minor.

Upon acceptance, students are required to take a fundamentals course, a history survey, two music theories courses and an additional music course. Professors will communicate with students about their daily practice requirements, which students are expected to follow closely.

All performance students are required to perform in either the fall or spring recital. There’s also a possibility of closing the semester with a jury. Professors will help students chose if a jury is needed instead of a performance.
