Alumni Band Night
, -
Martin Recital Hall
$15

Class Act(s) is Dominican University’s first-ever Alumni Band Night, a homecoming for the musicians who walked these halls and filled the dorm rooms, practice rooms and beyond with their music and artistry. Since graduating they’ve been writing, recording, performing and finding their own voices. On Saturday, November 21, they’re bringing that music back to campus and back to the Martin Recital Hall stage, where so many of their Dominican memories were made.

The lineup covers a lot of ground. You’ll hear atmospheric, story-driven songwriting, genre-defying collective work and emo-tinged synth pop. What ties it together is a shared starting point and the kind of creative courage this community tries to nurture in every student.

Think of it less as a formal concert and more as a mini music fest. Three hours of live music means you set the pace. Come see your friend’s band, stick around for the next act, or hang out for the whole night. There’ll be food and drinks (grown-up and otherwise), and like any good festival, you’ll get a wristband at the door so you can come and go as you please. Grab a bite, catch up with old classmates between sets, and get back inside in time for the next act.

Whether you shared a class, a stage or a lunch table with these artists, or you’re hearing them for the first time, come welcome them home. Bring your old roommates. Bring your current students. This is what comes next.

The Acts

J MIGUEL
J Miguel pairs emotional storytelling with atmospheric production and energetic arrangements. His sets move from intimate, quiet moments to big, uplifting ones and carry the whole room with him.

MODERN DAYBREAK
Modern Daybreak is a collective of like-minded musicians searching for love, peace and understanding. Their music grew out of years of hard work, heartbreak and hope, and it adds up to a project unlike anything its members have done before. They come from all walks of life and make music together without limits, boundaries or genres.

JUNGHEIM
Jungheim blends acoustic instrumentation with saturated synths and draws on emo and pop-punk to write candidly about mental health, family conflict and gender identity. The songs are raw and honest, and it’s hard not to sing along.

Your Hosts

Three more familiar faces from the Dominican family will host the night: emcees Delilah Nochipa, Tim Piotrkowski and Shawna J. They’re alumni too, and they’re ready to welcome their classmates home in style.
