Starting in the spring 2025 semester, Alba Mendiola will teach SPAN 242/CAS 242: Bilingual Broadcast Journalism and Media course. She currently teaches Broadcast Journalism to Spanish heritage speaker students at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago. She previous taught Spanish at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Before transitioning to education, Mendiola worked for 18 years as a Spanish television reporter at TelevisiĆ³n Azteca in Veracruz, Mexico, and Telemundo Chicago. Born and raised in Mexico, Mendiola has participated as a speaker, panelist, and moderator at conferences organized by non-profit organizations, universities, and schools in the United States and Mexico.
