Cecilia Lizama Salvatore is Professor and Coordinator of the Archives and Cultural Heritage Program. Her research, teaching, and service focus on the areas of the broad management of archives and cultural heritage resources. She is particularly focused on the documentation, archiving, and the preservation of the records and cultural heritage of diverse communities. She is the Lead PI on a three-year Mellon Foundation grant that focuses on partnerships with communities, their archives, and Dominican University students. Originally from a United States territory in the Pacific Islands, Professor Salvatore pays attention to the global forum on archives and cultural heritage. She is currently working with Pacific Island territories and the diaspora, specifically on their documentation, archiving, and preservation objectives. She is on the Board of Directors of IPIKU, a partnership of local leaders, scholars, and educators from the Pacific Islands. In addition, she is an active member of IFLA, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, where, at various times, she served as chair or member of the Advisory Committee on Cultural Heritage, the Local History and Genealogy Section, and the Indigenous Matters Section.
