Nkuzi Nnam

Nkuzi Nnam is a Professor of Philosophy and the founding director of Black World Studies at Dominican University. He received his bachelor's degree in philosophy, summa cum laude, as well as a master's degree in theology and a Ph.D. in Jurisprudence from DePaul University.

Dr. Nnam has published numerous articles and four books. His first book A Comparative Study of Anglo- American and Nigerian Jurisprudence. The second book is Colonial Mentality in Africa. The third is Igbo Jurisprudence: An African Philosophy of Laws. His latest book is entitled Exegesis: A Munson Interpretation Of Matthews, John, and Acts of Apostles.

Nnam founded Dominican's University Black World Studies Major and created the Elders' Council, an advisory board that mentors and financially supports students majoring in Black World Studies. He launched a partnership with Ohio Dominican University establishing a joint major in Black World Studies. He also fostered a partnership with Proviso Township High School to offer a dual credit Black World Studies course "African and African- American Thought," and trained eleven instructors to teach the class in the fall and spring semesters

A native of Nigeria, Nnam takes pride in introducing students to the history and rich culture of Africa. He has led study-abroad trips to Ghana, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago. Students, particularly students of color, have referred to the trips as life-changing. He also established Dominican University as a Center for Igbo Studies and has presented on campus annual conferences attracting Igbo scholars from all over the world.
