Members of Dominican University's men’s volleyball team again participated in a local fundraiser that supports children’s charities.

The players volunteered their time at the 23rd annual LemonAid, an annual fundraiser in memory of the lives lost during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The event is organized by residents of the 700 block of Bonnie Brae in River Forest.

Players helped make cotton candy, hand out lemonade and break down displays at the conclusion of the day-long event. This is the sixth year the team has taken part in this community fundraiser.

"It's a great way to help give back to our local community for such a great cause,” said Douglas Burchett, head men’s volleyball coach. “It's important to remember the strength in coming together and helping those in need. Our guys have a lot of fun volunteering, and I'm really proud they were able to help contribute to an amazing event."

This year’s donations will help support Wonder Works Children’s Museum and Collaboration for Early Childhood, according to organizers.
