Educator Stephanie Bellot-Donaldson MAT ’16 was presented this spring with the 2025 Southern Conference on Language Teaching (SCOLT) regional Teacher of the Year award.

She was selected for the award based on her excellence in teaching and strong contributions to world languages, SCOLT said.

“The importance of developing language and culture competencies cannot be overstated, particularly in our globalized society where cross-cultural interactions are becoming the norm rather than the exception,” Bellot-Donaldson was quoted by SCOLT as saying.

The recognition comes after Bellot-Donaldson received the 2024 Kentucky World Language Association Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award last fall.

As the 2025 SCOLT regional Teacher of the Year, she will now compete for the National World Languages Teacher of the Year Award in November, presented by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.

Bellot-Donaldson teaches third-grade Spanish immersion classes at Hawthorne Elementary School in Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to her master’s degree, she obtained a certificate in bilingual education from Dominican University.
