Jocelyn Ramirez is honing her skills in leadership—and helping her peers prepare for the business world.

Jocelyn serves as president of the university’s Women in Business organization, which offers networking and educational experiences to build personal growth and leadership.

“As women, we have to advocate for our spaces, as well as our networking opportunities,” Jocelyn says.

She’s also marketing director for the DU chapter of ALPFA, the Association of Latino Professionals for America, which helps members make professional connections and secure their next internship. Jocelyn herself was a marketing intern for the Chicago KICS soccer club.

Her other roles include DU resident assistant, marketing coordinator for the Student Government Association, mentor to students at Trinity High School and reporter for The Dominican Star. This year, her service work earned her the Student Laureate Award from the Lincoln Academy of Illinois.

“We should all take advantage of what Dominican has to offer to help break barriers and create change,” Jocelyn says.
