Dominican is a leader among the nation’s Hispanic-Serving Institutions, advancing opportunity and ensuring the social mobility of our Latine students.
A national model in supporting the success of Latine students
As a federally designated HSI since 2011, Dominican has grown from a Hispanic-enrolling institution to a model for how to truly serve today’s diverse Latine student populations. With the support of federal grants, we are expanding scholarships, reducing equity gaps, creating new pathways to graduate school and careers, and more.
Celebrating our culture. Advocating for social justice.
At Dominican, our HSI identity is about more than the numbers of students who enroll. Together, we celebrate our culture and advocate for social justice. Our Office of Justice, Equity and Inclusion equips students, faculty and staff for responsible global citizenship, enabling students of all backgrounds to thrive. And at our Center for Cultural Liberation, students find space to build community around topics important to us, like immigration policy, criminal justice reform and fighting gender-based discrimination.
Destination: Dream Job
What comes after Dominican is just as important. Within a year of graduating, 78% of our students go on to jobs at major corporations, startups, medical centers, nonprofits, schools and beyond. Around 20% enter graduate school.
Guadalupe Belmonte was the first in her family to go to college. At Dominican, that means she fit right in. Guadalupe, an accounting major, found tons of support, including help landing an internship with Ernst & Young, one of the Big Four accounting firms. She even started her senior year knowing she had a job offer from the firm for after graduation. These days, she’s making her mark and making a difference, working as an accountant at Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity.
Why choose an HSI?
At a Hispanic-Serving Institution like Dominican, students join a diverse and inclusive community with a record of Hispanic student success—one that celebrates the richness of Latinidad and the entire American experience.
