STEM OPT Extension

STEM OPT extension permits certain F-1 students with degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to apply for a 24-month extension of their post-completion OPT. 

Here is a list of Department of Homeland Security eligible STEM majors. Following are STEM eligible majors at Dominican University that are also approved for issuance of an I-20.  

Undergraduate majors

• BS in Nutrition and Dietetics              
• BS in Environmental Science              
• BS in Computer Information Systems 
• BS in Computer Science                     
• BS in Biology                                      
• BS in Neuroscience                           
• BA and BS in Biology/Chemistry        
• BS in Math and Computer Science      
• BS in Natural Sciences                        
• BS in Data Science                            
• BS in Chemistry                               
• BS in Informatics

Graduate

At this time, there are no graduate degree programs eligible for STEM OPT extension.
