Based on their partnerships with national and international companies, Brooke Reavey, assistant professor of marketing, and Jamie Shaw, executive director of career programs and employer relations, offer tips for attracting university students of color for the market research field. Suggestions include recruiting from regional schools before doing a national search, looking for applicants from AACSB-accredited business schools, and asking candidates to share market research experience in the classroom or in jobs early in the recruiting process.

Dominican University students held a vigil and march to commemorate the lives of Black and Brown victims of police violence. The event was held a week after a jury found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty on all three charges of second degree unintentional murder, third degree murder and second degree manslaughter in the death of George Floyd on May 25, 2020.

University Business discusses Dominican's mission to serve students in the Chicago area, particularly those from the Latinx community and first generation students.

Michael Roman, in an article in the Village Free Press, discusses Dominican's announcement of spring break immersion programs in the adjoining suburb of Maywood. The program is part of a larger commitment to tackle racial and social injustice in the Village of River Forest--and on campus. The university is one of a small cohort of universities designated by the Association of American Colleges and Universities as a Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation campus center.

President Donna Carroll discussed how leaving Dominican after 27 years is the right--but difficult--decision. She believes that the university is good hands and in good shape. "When you've built a place and do care about it like I do, that last great gift that you give the institution is a timely and smooth transition," she said.

Jill Albin-Hill, vice president of technology and operations, discusses how Dominican is using technology as part of its COVID-19 safety precautions and reporting. In addition to a mandatory mask-wearing policy, physical distancing guidelines, and the use of the #CampusClear app for self-monitoring and reporting symptoms, Dominican is employing a Cloud-based digital platform which leverages its existing Wi-Fi network and device-based detection and location-based analytics to help stop the spread of the virus.
